The Tell-Tale Heart - Review

The Tell-Tale Heart is a story by Edgar Allan Poe, I would say that it is an intriguing story and also sort of a thriller. I like this kind of stories in which you don't know if the narrator is sane or not. Sometimes it was hard to understand the narrator's motive to do what he did. The way he describes the things made it one of my favorite stories of this cycle.

The story is about a man that lives with an old guy that has a strange eye. First he claims that he loves the old man, but as the story is developing he reveals his true intentions. He organizes a viable plan to kill the old man, but with one condition, the eye had to be wide open.  He goes into his room for seven nights, but the eye was closed. On the eight night there was a modification, the eye opened and the narrator started his plan. He killed the man, dismembered him and buried him under the flooring. He made sure that there were no blood stains, that the flooring was clean and stable, it was the perfect crime. Later, the police arrived because a neighbor called them, first he acted naturally, but then his own paranoia betrayed him. He felt like the officers were laughing at him, he started to get nervous until he would finally admit to killing the old man.

  1. I like this story too nelly, i think is very interesting to be in the narrator's mind. I can say that it scared me when I tried to imagine the narrator. I feel that the sound he was hearing was unexpected, I don't think that he felt guilty, but I think he mind was the actually who was playing with him. Maybe he could have double personality or bipolarity so that's the reason why he alegate to love the old man. I think it was the best story from all the year. -Camilache

  2. I really liked this summary, you did a great job to explain every scene presented in the story. Every detail was really accurate and well written. The tell-tale heart is a great story since it shows how the guy mind's work and why did he acted that way towards the old man. There was a lot of irony in this story which was pretty interesting, in my opinion one of the best stories this year. Great summary I loved it!-Ariana Espinoza
